Dee Edwards released her first song together with her three brothers as R&B vocal group The Paragons. "You Say You Love Me (And Need Me)" was her official solo debut single. At that time, she was signed to Detroit soul label D-Town by founder Mike Hanks.

"Dee Edwards has a raw Motown flavor befitting one of Detroit's finest soul vocalists."
