"Billie’s Blues" is the first-known solo recording of Billie Holiday, recorded in 1936. The following live version of the blues song was Billie Holiday's first showcase in a major concert hall when she became the first black woman to sing at the Metropolitan.

For the original recording, Lady Day was joined by an all-star jazz band with Roy Eldridge (trumpet), Jack Teagarden (trombone), Coleman Hawkins (tenor saxophone), Barney Bigard (clarinet), Art Tatum (piano), Al Casey (guitar), Oscar Pettiford (bass), and Sidney Catlett (drums).

Here on Tracklib, the live version recorded at New York's Metropolitan Opera House is titled "Everything a Good Man Needs," after the original lyrics of the song.

"The slow tempo track is almost ruined by Catlett out-of-mood interventions and loud comments behind also don't help, making the audience laugh, but Billie in true fashion is not deturred by such antics."
