G.E.D. Soul Records is a label from Nashville, Tennessee founded back in 2007. With artists on their roster such as DeRobert & The Half-Truths, A.J. and the Jiggawatts, The Gips and Sky Hi, the label is all about uncovering raw funk and soul music. Authenticity is key there: contemporary artists who sound like they’ve taken a time machine from the heydays of deep funk and soul.
G.E.D. Soul Records was founded by Dave Singleton and Nick Devan. Both of them are also part of Magic In Threes, an instrumental trio part of G.E.D. Records grounded in an intriguing mix of cinematic soul, library records, and hip-hop beats.
The Nashville-based label releases a handful of vinyl records each year, always putting the music first rather than throwing everything on wax for the sake of releasing it. All from G.E.D.’s own Poor Man Studios located in the north of Music City.
Your Instagram profile needs to be public for us to be able to see your post. Only entries using the #tracklibbeatbattle where at least two friends are tagged are participating. The winning prize is selected by Tracklib together with Mathematics.
Your music is still yours. We do not own any of the entries to this competition and will not use them for any other advertising purposes. We will, however, repost your tracks to promote the competition itself.
The first prize will be awarded a full sample license to monetize their work for free. The winner will, however, still have to pay the original rightsholders their share (5, 10 or 20% depending on sample time) of any eventual revenue earned on the new song.
No purchase is necessary to participate, but the samples need to be downloaded using a personal account on Tracklib. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable and will be added to the winners Tracklib account.
If you have any further questions about the rules of this competition - just ask us at support@tracklib.com.
When sampling from Tracklib a single sample license is valid for all available tracks of a song. The total sample time is counted using the master track as a reference, so if you sample the same five seconds from all separate tracks it's still only five seconds total sample time.
