Previously working with producers like Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Beat Butcha, AraabMuzik, and Mike & Keys, it’s safe to say that Dave East has got a great ear for beats... If you have what it takes to become part of that star-studded list of producers Dave East collaborated with, Tracklib gets you a flight ticket to New York for a studio session together with Dave East. The winner gets selected by Dave East himself of course.
“Tracklib gives you the opportunity to use samples that maybe you didn’t think you could use or find,” says Dave East. “Samples you maybe never found before. I think it’s a great database to explore your own visions and push your creativity to the next level.”
Time to explore that vision to the fullest. For that, the choice of song(s) to sample is up to you:
Want to dig into *Inspired-*collections of producers Dave East worked with before such as Timbaland or DJ Premier? Use a collection inspired by Illmatic by Nas, who signed Dave East to Mass Appeal Records in 2014? Or subtly hint to his acting career by sampling film scores? From unexpected breaks to classic loops: anything goes for this placement competition. The choice is yours. Head to our Tracks section and start digging.

Harlem-based emcee Dave East tells gritty street stories through a clear scope of New York hip-hop. Nas signed him to Mass Appeal Records in 2014, following a sling of six mixtapes including Gemini and Change of Plans. Since then, East has worked with the likes of Pusha T, Jadakiss, 2 Chainz, Cam’ron, Jeezy, and Styles P. 2019’s Survival was his official studio debut. The album featured an all-star line-up including DJ Premier, Nas, Rick Ross, The-Dream, Fabolous, E-40, Max B, and Teyana Taylor. With a #11 notation in the Billboard 200, and another release on Def Jam Recordings, East lived up to his 2016 cover feature of XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class.
Next to more recent releases like the third installment in his Karma mixtape series and Hoffatogether with producer Harry Fraud, Dave East is also making moves in his acting career: he portrayed Method Man in Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga, played Mister Ford in Netflix' Beats movie, and he appeared as himself in Lil Dicky's Dave comedy series.
