WHY WE ARE HOSTING
Tracklib is all about the art of sampling: We aim to give sampling the recognition it deserves, and provide a platform for producers to be able—for the first time ever—to sample freely, without obstacles.
We're a complete sampling service where any producer can use any kind of sample, without any legal headaches when releasing their work. No matter if you want to sample well-known Bollywood records, 70s soul gems, contemporary R&B acapellas, or get some one-shots and loops—we got you covered. Find out how here.
Electronic music has, together with hip-hop, been the cultural foundation from which sampling flourished. That's why this video and competition exists: to pay homage to that evolution and its contributors, while also paving the way for future talents to shine.
"I come from a sampling culture so when I saw Tracklib I thought: this is the new way forward. I'm totally down with this."
Liam Howlett (producer of The Prodigy)
WHY THEY ARE SUPPORTING
Ninja Tune is a record label founded by artists, for artists. Formed in 1990 by Matt Black and Jonathan More of the electronic music duo and sampling pioneers Coldcut, the label evolved into one of the world's leading independent record labels fully dedicated to electronic music.
Their current roster of electronic acts is nothing short of iconic: Bonobo, Floating Points, Actress, Maribou State, Jayda G, Bicep, Barry Can't Swim, Little Dragon, ODESZA, Machinedrum, Sofia Kourtesis and many more. To this day, the label prides itself in being fully independent, which allows for genuine support and free artistic expression. Now, through this collaborative competition with Tracklib, you can become part of that.
"Tracklib‘s system of legally getting killer samples is a revelation! Partnering with Tracklib on this project links with our mission to foster creativity and celebrate the art of sampling whilst respecting the source OGs."
Matt Black (Co-Founder of Coldcut & Ninja Tune)
