Competition
This competition has officially ended and all further submissions will be disregarded. You can see and hear the winners below.
Make a beat using any sample from Tracklib. Jazz, funk, music from one of the Tracklib-curated collections, flip children's songs or go punk, or explore one of the recent additions by exotica pioneer Les Baxter and reggae/dub legends Sly & Robbie... Anything is allowed. As long as the song contains one or more Tracklib samples.
Last year’s competition with Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspectah Deck led to thousands of submissions. So make sure to go all-out for Redman... As expressed by the man himself: "I want a FIRE beat using a Tracklib sample. I don't care if it's R&B, pop, rap, club... If I'm not getting that ugly face, we ain't listening to it." Better start digging for the right sample(s) to bring Redman that heat.
Besides the chance to make music together with Redman we also have some amazing prizes for this one. Winner will get a Cash Prize of $1000! And courtesy of our friends over at Serato, both the winner and all 5 runner ups will receive a license to both Serato Studio and Serato Sample!
Winning producer:
5 runner-ups:
Serato Studio License (value $199)
Serato Sample License (value $99)
One-year Standard subscription to Tracklib (value $139.90)
Early last year, Redman got in the news for paying $9.000 to clear a James Brown sample for the sequel to his 'Muddy Waters' album. That doesn't only show he understands the value of sampling, but also gives away his dedication to his music. The emcee, actor, producer, inexhaustible live performer, and founding member of Def Squad is eight studio albums deep. Plus four collaborative albums with Erick Sermon and Method Man respectively, and a ton of guest appearances with legends like MC Eiht, The Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, LL Cool J, Gorillaz, and countless others.
And there ain't no slowing down for the New Jersey emcee and blunt ambassador. Most recently expressed on a new track called "Hip Hop 2020," an ode to hip-hop featuring Mr. Green & Mr. Cream. "A young n*gga selling weed, imitating Run DMC, then I ran into EPMD..."
