David Baron

Record producer, film composer, musician, arranger, and engineer located in the historic Woodstock, New York area. An avid collector of vintage analog synthesizers and recording gear. David has worked with Lenny Kravitz for 20 years, and co- wrote Ninth for Peter Murphy. He played all the instruments with Kevin Kadish on the smash “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor that won him a Diamond Award. He has created many string and orchestral arrangements for artists like Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor, and Bat for Lashes. He’s appeared as a keyboardist on records for Keith Urban, Jason Mraz, and provided string arrangements for Shawn Mendes and ARP 2600 synth for Michael Jackson.

David grew up in the music business. Aaron Baron, his father, was a pioneer of remote recording who engineered records such as Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East, BB King at Cook Country Jail and Mingus Live at Carnegie Hall. Aaron took David to live shows and recording studios. He worked for his father as a teenager as an audio assistant on the truck. David was involved with recordings of Leonard Bernstein, Ray Charles, Journey, and even Bob Hope Specials. David studied classical piano and violin as well as technology and related arts at Oberlin Conservatory. He became interested in using technology to create productions during his years at Oberlin. The marriage between classical music and technology became the groundwork for his work. David is the lead composer and producer on the one-hundred million dollar follow up to Ashes and Snow (Gregory Colbert). He has worked with many collaborators on the score including Laurence Fishburne, Ken Watanabe, Lisa Fisher, Arve Hendriksen, Patrick Watson, Melanie DeBiasio, and Greg Gonzales of Cigarettes After Sex.
