Frances Jane van Alstyne-Crosby

American Methodist rescue mission worker, poet, lyricist, and composer (March 24, 1820 – February 12, 1915).

Known as Fanny Crosby in the United States and by her married name, Frances van Alstyne, in the United Kingdom. She was prob­ab­ly the most pro­lif­ic hymn­ist in his­to­ry. Though blind­ed by a doc­tor at six weeks of age, she wrote over 8,000 hymns.
