Artist
Mandroid has been around for a while. He cut his teeth as a sample based hip hop producer with Amsterdam’s Robotix crew. Fifteen years chopping samples is a long time though, and this approach slowly gave way to the use of software synths and a journey to the stylistically distant solar system of synthwave. Once funky though, always funky. The hip hop OGs had taught him well, sometimes you just need a break to realise it.
His hip hop roots and 20th century soul sounds came calling, so a trip to the local music store was in order. Coming back armed with his first hardware synth and drum machine, there was no turning back. Mandroid had found his groove and it was rooted in the soulful synthesised sounds of the 80s. Influenced by, then groundbreaking artists, like the SOS Band, Loose Ends and 52nd Street he locked himself in the studio and started creating his own blend of soft bumping, synthesised, instrumental soul.
