Wayne Mills

“My music is my story; we’re all dealing with our own hardships, and I think it’s time we come together as a community and talk about them.” Wayne Mills was born in Los Angeles, California to a single mother with a love of music, and shortly after relocating to the Bay Area in the early 90’s, quickly devoted all his energy to learning as much as he could about it.
Mills had spent most of his scholastic career in symphonic ensembles, and in the past two decades, began recording and playing in such bands as Estrea, Sea in The Sky, Orchestra of Antlers, and Owl Paws, and has since joined the talented roster of musicians at Text Me Records working with individual artists such as Derek Ted, Ricky Lake, Brea, WADE08, and Tia Nomore. More recently, Mills has paired up with Text Me Producer GrandBankss, and Grammy Award-Winning Composer/ Producer Maxwell Start to create his newest project, ‘Baby Blu.’
Baby Blu evokes the fragile and melancholy feelings of coping with loss and overwhelming insecurity. With emphatic and dissonant sounds reminiscent of Joji or Corbin, the album takes you through a specific period in Mills’ life, dealing with the strains of a new pandemic, and the emotional journey through a difficult break up. The record is a poetic blend of true experiences and storytelling - the focal point behind each song represents a truly relatable feeling – heartbreak, insecurities about ourselves, and pressures from society.
